May 23, 2017Earlier this month I had the opportunity to go on tour with Paquette Productions as their Lighting Director. It was a great opportunity to put my lighting knowledge to the test. As their Lighting Director I developed lighting plans to go hand-in-hand with the music to help create the ultimate atmosphere for the band, the vocalists and the audience.
Working with our lighting, the theatre’s lighting as well as the theatre techs, we were able to create ambiance and texture to enhance special moments in the music. It’s about helping the performance come to life with the appropriate use of various lighting techniques. Using varying lighting options is very important to create dynamics throughout the performance. This includes, but is not limited to subtle lighting for more emotional moments, energetic chases & movement for upbeat segments and sometimes even an absence of lighting at the right moment in time.
This tour went from Chatham to Montreal and stopped along the way in Oshawa, Oakville, Guelph, Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa twice. The tour was titled A Tribute to Elvis In Concert. It featured Toronto’s Pete Paquette, from the United Kingdom, Chris Connor, The Rockin’ Royals Showband and The Tonettes!
Here are some pictures from the tour at the various theatres that I had the opportunity to work at.
Paquette Productions is putting on another tour next month with shows in Newmarket, St. Catharines, Sarnia, Georgetown, Brantford, North Bay, Parry Sound, and Owen Sound that we are also involved with so make sure to check that out. That tour is titled Double Trouble and will feature Pete Paquette and Dean Z. Both Pete and Dean will go head to head as Elvis, taking you back in time to enjoy various eras of the Elvis Presley’s music career.
For more information and to get tickets, visit the Double Trouble page on the Paquette Productions website.
