September 15, 2014CDJA Chapter Director Appointment
October 15, 2014Not exactly. It takes a special kind of touch to be able to read a crowd and carefully select songs accordingly. As the old saying goes, “Nobody ever regretted buying quality”. When it comes to entertainment, you really do get what you pay for. Some DJs boast that they have 20,000 or 30,000 songs, but what is more important is being able to be able to select the proper songs at the right time to create lasting memories. Creating a flow to the evening is also very important. Keeping track of the BPM (beats per minute), genre, key and mixing from song to song while monitoring the guests on and off the dance floor is a knack that comes with experience. Good DJs don’t pick songs at random which is why it may take a few songs to get your request played. Quite often your DJ will take over the MC duties once the dance portion of the evening gets started. Experienced DJ/MCs know when to get on the mic and when to let the music do the talking.
